Notice is hereby given that the City of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board will hold a regular public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2009 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Carpinteria, California.

This is a time for public comments on matters not otherwise on the agenda but within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Architectural Review Board.  Comments shall be limited to 15 minutes, divided among those persons desiring to speak, but no person shall speak longer than five minutes.  Persons wishing to speak on a specific item will be recognized at the time the agenda item is considered.

 

The City is not responsible for the content of statements made during the public comment period, or the factual accuracy of any such statements.

         Project Location:  4945 Carpinteria Avenue

         Zoning:  Central Business (CB)

 

           Hearing on the request of Dave Mendro, NMA Architects, agent/architect for Richard Doolittle to consider Case No. 08-1479-DPM/CDP for a final review of a proposal to extensively remodel the existing multi-tenant commercial building.  The proposed improvements include creating a new entry at the northeast corner of the building along Carpinteria Avenue, replacing doors and windows, re-plastering portions of the structure and replacing the existing flat concrete tile roofing on the east elevation with clay tile roofing.  The property is zoned Central Business (CB) and shown as APN 003-261-010, located at 4945 Carpinteria Avenue.

         The applicant is requesting a continuance to the January 29, 2009 ARB meeting.

Project Number:  07-1413-DP/VAR/CDP

Project Location:  4717 Dorrance Way

Zoning:  Planned Residential Development (PRD-20)

 

Hearing on the request of William Araluce, architect for Dan and Chrystal Bouté, to consider Case No. 07-1413-DP/VAR/CDP for final review of a proposal to demolish an existing single family dwelling and detached garage and construct a new two-story 2,235 square foot single family dwelling.  The Variance would allow the required 50-foot front setback from street centerline to be reduced to a minimum of 44 feet from street centerline.  The property is a 4,050 square foot parcel zoned Planned Residential Development (PRD-20) and shown as APN 003-436-002 located at 4717 Dorrance Way.

 

3)       Applicant:  Syndi Souter for Bob Gobuty                                             Planner: Nick Bobroff

Project Location:  4716 Seventh Street

Zoning:  Planned Residential Development (PRD-15)  

 

Hearing on the request of Syndi Souter, agent for Bob Gobuty to consider case No. 08-1417-DP/PM/CDP for in-progress review of a proposal to remodel and construct additions to an existing single family dwelling, construct two new attached two-story dwelling units and subdivide the property for condominium purposes.  The new total square footage of the existing residence would 1,620 square feet and the two new units would 1,190 square feet and 1,925 square feet, respectively.  The property is a 10,998 square foot parcel zoned PRD-20 and shown as APN 003-301-020, located at 4716 Seventh Street.

 

4)       Applicant:  Jonathan Jacobs/Carpinteria Athletics                               Planner:  Shanna Farley

Project Number:  09-1485-ARB

Project Location:  5423 Carpinteria Avenue

Zoning:  Commercial Planned Development (CPD)  

 

Hearing on the request of Amanda Clinton, agent for Jonathan Jacobs / Carpinteria Athletics to consider case No. 09-1485-ARB for preliminary review of a Sign Application. The proposed sign would measure 22 feet wide by 6 feet high. The sign would be centered above the Carpinteria Avenue frontage entrance. The sign would be constructed of a color printed foam board. [Although, no lighting is included with the current project description, the Board may consider lighting at the meeting.]  The property is a 52,272 square foot parcel zoned CPD and shown as APN 003-280-002, located at 5423 Carpinteria Avenue.

NOTES:  For those projects that do not require Planning Commission approval, recommendations for preliminary approval by the Architectural Review Board will be forwarded to the Community Development Director for a decision.  Those Community Development Director decisions that are appealable pursuant to CMC §14.12.020(2) may be appealed to the Planning Commission.  Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Director’s action.
