Notice is hereby given that the City of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board will hold a regular public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday,

January 29, 2009 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Carpinteria, California.

This is a time for public comments on matters not otherwise on the agenda but within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Architectural Review Board.  Comments shall be limited to 15 minutes, divided among those persons desiring to speak, but no person shall speak longer than five minutes.  Persons wishing to speak on a specific item will be recognized at the time the agenda item is considered.

Hearing on the request of Dave Mendro, NMA Architects, agent/architect for Richard Doolittle to consider Case No. 08-1479-DPM/CDP for a final review of a proposal to extensively remodel the existing multi-tenant commercial building.  The proposed improvements include creating a new entry at the northeast corner of the building along Carpinteria Avenue, replacing doors and windows, re-plastering portions of the structure and replacing the existing flat concrete tile roofing on the east elevation with clay tile roofing.  The property is zoned Central Business (CB) and shown as APN 003-261-010, located at 4945 Carpinteria Avenue.

Hearing on the request of Richard Johnson agent for Rene Topalian to consider Case No. 08-1473-ARB for a preliminary review of a for a proposal to remodel a one-story single family dwelling and construct a new 742 square foot second floor addition.  The proposed remodel includes relocating/replacing existing exterior doors and windows, completing an interior remodel of the residence and relocating the garage door to face the street.  The existing driveway would be largely removed and replaced with landscaping and a patio area.  A new driveway and apron would be constructed to align with the new garage door.  The site is located at 5570 Calle Ocho (APN 003-351-002) and is zoned Single Family Residential (6-R-1).

NOTES:  For those projects that do not require Planning Commission approval, recommendations for preliminary approval by the Architectural Review Board will be forwarded to the Community Development Director for a decision.  Those decisions that are appealable pursuant to CMC §14.12.020 (2) may be appealed to the Planning Commission.  Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Director’s action.
