Notice is hereby given that the City of Carpinteria’s Architectural Review Board will hold a regular public meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009 in the Council Chambers at City Hall in Carpinteria, California.

This is a time for public comments on matters not otherwise on the agenda but within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Architectural Review Board.  Comments shall be limited to 15 minutes, divided among those persons desiring to speak, but no person shall speak longer than five minutes.  Persons wishing to speak on a specific item will be recognized at the time the agenda item is considered.

 

The City is not responsible for the content of statements made during the public comment period, or the factual accuracy of any such statements.

1)      Applicant: Erinn Peterson, GPA                                                            Planner:  Jonathan Leech, Dudek

Project Number:  09-1500-CUP/CDP

Project Location:  Along Highway 101 between Mobil Pier Undercrossing in Ventura County to ˝ mile west of Bailard Avenue in Carpinteria

 

Hearing on the request of Erinn Peterson, GPA Environmental, agent for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), to consider preliminary review of a proposal to construct High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes within the existing median along a six-mile segment of US 101 between Mobil Pier in Ventura County and Casitas Pass Road in Santa Barbara County. The proposed project would provide six total travel lanes (three northbound and three southbound) as well as 10-foot medians and shoulders through the communities of Mussel Shoals, La Conchita, Rincon and the City of Carpinteria. The project length within the City of Carpinteria is 2.2 miles.

Project Number:  09-1527-DP/CDP/LLA: Dahlia Court Expansion

Project Location:  1300 Dahlia Court

Zoning:  Planned Residential Development (PRD 20)

 

           Hearing on the request of Peoples’ Self-Help Housing Corporation to consider preliminary review of a proposal to construct 33 new apartments and a 4,347 square foot community center adjacent to the existing Dahlia Court Apartments.  There would be 19 new 2-bedroom units and 14 new 3-bedroom units.  The community center would include a multi-purpose room, kitchen, reception area, two offices, two classrooms, health center, restrooms, laundry room, storage and mechanical rooms to be shared by Dahlia Court residents.  The approximately two-acre site is zoned Planned Residential Development (PRD 20) and shown as APNs 003-590-051 and-042.

 

 

3)      Applicant:  Mike & Susan Ahn                                                              Planner:  Nick Bobroff

         Agent:  Ray Ames

Project Number:  09-1529-CON

Project Location:  4848 Seventh Street

Zoning:  Planned Residential Development (PRD-15)

 

           Hearing on the request of Ray Ames, agent for Mike and Susan Ahn to consider Case No. 09-1529-CON for conceptual review of a proposal to demolish two existing single family dwellings and construct a new 2,693 square foot single family dwelling, an attached 468 square foot guest studio and attached garages totaling 746 square feet.  Total building square footage would be 3,907 square feet.  Maximum height of the new two-story residence would be 24 feet four inches.  The 11,121 square foot lot is zoned Planned Residential Development (PRD-15) and shown as APN 003-304-010, located at 4848 Seventh Street.

NOTES:  For those projects that do not require Planning Commission approval, recommendations for preliminary approval by the Architectural Review Board will be forwarded to the Community Development Director for a decision.  Those Community Development Director decisions that are appealable pursuant to CMC §14.12.020(2) may be appealed to the Planning Commission.  Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Director’s action.
