THE PLANNING COMMISSION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THE ORDER IN WHICH ITEMS ARE HEARD.  APPLICANTS NOT IN ATTENDANCE WHEN THEIR ITEM IS CALLED MAY HAVE THEIR ITEM CONTINUED TO THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING.

 

Any written, printed or electronic material and/or exhibit presented at this meeting becomes the property of the City, and a copy must be provided to City staff.

 

This meeting will be broadcast live on Government Access Television Channel 21 and rebroadcast on Wednesday after the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

This time on the agenda provides an opportunity for the public to address the Planning Commission on items within the jurisdiction of the Commission and not listed on other sections of the agenda.  Please limit comments to no more than five minutes.  Depending on the number of speakers wishing to make comments, the Chair may further limit the time available to each speaker to control the amount of time spent on this part of the agenda.  If you wish to speak on a CONSENT CALENDAR item, please do so during this part of the meeting.

 

Please be advised that California law does not allow the Planning Commission to discuss or take action on any issue presented by the public during this portion of the meeting.  The Commission may ask a question for clarification, provide a brief response to public comment, refer the matter to staff for review and a later report or direct staff to place an item on a future agenda.

 

The City is not responsible for the content of statements made during the public comment period or the factual accuracy of any such statements.

a.   Flood Control Grant of Easement to Caltrans                Planner:  Jackie Campbell

      Project # 12-1622-GC

Hearing on the request of Jeff Havlik, County of Santa Barbara Public Works Department, Real Property Division, to consider Case No. 12-1622-GC [application filed April 18, 2012], for a determination that granting an easement to Caltrans to accommodate a sound wall associated with the Linden Avenue - Casitas Pass Road Interchanges Project is consistent with the General Plan/Coastal Plan of the City of Carpinteria pursuant to Government Code §65402.  The application involves APN 004-027-063, located just west of the intersection of Tomol Drive and Nipomo Drive, adjacent to Franklin Creek and US Highway 101.

      Project # 12-1621-GC

Hearing on the request of Matt Roberts, City of Carpinteria Parks and Recreation Director, to consider Case No. 12-1621-GC [application filed April 10, 2012], for a determination that acquisition of approximately 28,871 square feet of undeveloped property from Union Pacific Railroad is consistent with the General Plan/Coastal Plan of the City of Carpinteria pursuant to Government Code §65402.  The application involves APN 004-105-011, located just west of Parking Lot 3 on the south side of Fifth Street between its intersections with Elm and Holly Avenues.

c.   Carpinteria Children’s Project at Main                              Planner:  Jackie Campbell

Project # 12-1619-DPR/CDP

Hearing on the request of the Carpinteria Unified School District to consider Case No. 12-1619-DPR/CDP (application filed March 30, 2012) for approval for a Revised Development Plan and a Coastal Development Permit to allow an increase in the number of infants and toddlers at the facility day care center and the pre-school under the provisions of the Community Facility Zone District; and to accept the exemption under §15332 of the State Guidelines for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act.  The application involves APN 003-323-001, addressed as 5201 and 5241 Eighth Street.

All actions of the Planning Commission may be appealed to the City Council. Appeals must be filed with the City Clerk within 10 calendar days of the Commission's action. Appeal deadline for items on this agenda:  5:00 p.m., May 17, 2012. The next regular Planning Commission meeting will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber.
